Re: Very Nice

A technical note -- I notice that in this new version of phpBB, internet links -- like this -- open in the same window as the forum itself, thus replacing the forum in the browser. In the previous version, links opened in a new window. The folks who design this software offer a way to revert to the ...

Re: Very Nice

jenjulian, That's a nice piece from the talk by J. Krishnamurti at TZF's Ampers&nd. Then neither you, with your "sez who?" attitude or me, clothed in my skepticism suit, would last very long as his students … As an idea, his theory is real, but as a reality ...? 35 As I have said, I am...

Re: Very Nice

ihavesayso, Until you asked, I had not noticed the new "Save" feature. It took me a while of backing and forthing, but here's how to re-open the draft. Log in, then at the Board Index (or maybe even on any page), click on "User Control Panel". When that opens, click on the tab la...

Re: Very Nice

What proof did he offer of this theory? My knowledge of Gurdjieff is not extensive, so do not rely on this reply. However, from what I do know of him and his teaching method, my guess is that he did not take kindly to students who challenged him to “Prove it!”. And if a student were to be so bold, ...

Re: Very Nice

Where is the spell check button? I did not see anything in FAQ about it. There is no spell check (unfortunately). The only thing I can think is that, Neo, you must have been using the Firefox browser. Firefox comes with a spell checker. Actually, it is a nice browser, and some say more secure than ...

Re: Very Nice

Neo, the kestrel is back. Like any new home, this new version needs a little tweaking here and there to make it "ours". Bit by bit.

Peggy Sue, I noticed that, too. The mind is a, uh, that is, -- okay, it's the season, let's be generous -- wondrous thing!

Divine Accomodation

Here’s an interesting idea from a book, Discovering God by Rodney Stark . 35 … one of the most fundamental, yet remarkably neglected, of all Judeo-Christian premises, that of Divine Accommodation , which holds that God's revelations are always limited to the current capacity of humans to comprehend ...

if I posted that on the ChristianBoard, I would have no audience whatever Don’t be so sure. Here’s what I know from what TZF visitors have told us over the years: There are a lot of people who come here frequently, but only to read. For any number of reasons, all of them valid, they are not ready t...

an awareness of the difference between the religion about Jesus and the religion of Jesus Excellent stuff, and as you undoubtedly expect, not to mention for whatever it may be worth, I agree with you. A couple of comments, none of which will, for very understandable reasons, likely be welcome at th...

There is another gnostic gospel, the Gospel of Thomas, which is equally intreresting. Marcus Borg and the "Jesus Seminar" included this document in their translation of "The Five Gospels." I love the work of the Jesus Seminar ! And I agree, their set of gospels, The Complete Gos...

Gospel of Judas

I am reading with interest two books about the “Gospel of Judas”, a recently surfaced third or fourth century copy of a gnostic text which was probably originally written in the middle of the second century. This text is perhaps best known for having been the target of a vehement attack by Irenaeus ...

“Be still, and know that I Am God”. Yes, too cool. When I first read that line as a seeker (that is, not as a Sunday School brat), I took it to be a practice or a technique, like a hatha yoga posture or a Zen meditation. But now, I read it as a tautology (is that the right term?). That is, the first...

Art wrote, I am active on another message board, called "ChristianBoard.com." I am constantly amazed by two things: one is that so many post messages that amount basically to "Here's whom we should hate today”. As you know – and have written – so well, religion and spirituality are no...
